Alnico 3's are a unique beast, combining some of the best qualities of other magnet types. A rich midrange similar to Alnico II, combined with a percussive presence of Alnico V yeild a tone that can only be described as woody. Hence, the name Woodward.

The tight bottom end of the Alnico III magnets traditionally makes them a perfect match for Tweed Style amplifers, but modern day players also find the magnet's tonalities useful for avoiding an overly bassy sound.
